Hey docs, I just had a question about training in a particular situation. I recently had two small cysts removed from my neck on Monday. The dermatologist did not put me under anesthesia, but used a numbing cream to remove them. He also used dissolvable stitches after removing the lesions. The cysts were never large or painful but just rather bothersome due to pus-filled sacs with discharge being able to be squeezed out. The post-op instructions said to not lift or run or swim for a week or do any kind of “heavy” activity. My neck was a bit sore the first day but now about 48 hours post op I haven’t had any pain or discomfort, really only a tiny bit of stiffness. The doctor also said to use vinegar and water to treat the scar tissue. I’m also a bit confused because the post op instructions said to not lift anything heavy for a month, as able.
I guess what I’m getting at is, is it appropriate to continue with previous activity? I was currently on the last week of the powerlifting 2 template which puts me in a weird spot being that it is 1RM efforts at the end of the week. I don’t have a meet any time soon due to COVID-19 and have been having a bit of a setback as well with a back tweak so I’m not overly anxious to get back as soon as possible, but would there be a time frame for when to resume training? I’m not sure if anything related to bodyweight conditioning counts as “heavy” work either, so if doing the last week of the template isn’t an option, is there an intensity or protocol with something else to follow until I can resume training again? Also if it helps I am a 25 year old male, 5’11” 206 lbs, 34.5” waist. Squat and deadlift in the 400s, bench in the upper 200s.
