I (28M) have an issue where my one of my lats will randomly pull during squats. Sometimes it will be my right lat, sometimes my left lat. It only happens when I am stabilizing a heavy bar on my back for squats. It has never happened deadlifting or doing other pulls. When it happens it is pretty debilitating. Extreme pain and spasms. It will take 1-2 weeks to get back to full training strength. And then it randomly happens again. I use my foam roller a lot pre and post training to loosen my back up in the hope of preventing a pull during training. Thoughts?
Hey, thanks for the questions. Check out the article Pain in Training: What do? for general advice on these situations. I would not recommend foam rolling in this context to mitigate muscle injuries.
