I was convinced that in the bridge pdf ebook there was the prescription somewhere that rest times between sets are to be kept between 4-5 minutes max.
However, looking at the pdf now I can’t find this claim anymore. Does anybody know the source, whether it’s from the Bridge ebook or elsewhere?
I remember Austin and Jordan suggesting 3-5 min, if this works well for you, but max of 7 as a general rule.
Can’t find it on the Bridge pdf either, but in terms of the developmental or strength templates, they usually prescribe a max of 5 minutes for the competition lifts when RPE>7. Usually slightly lower rest times for the variations or supplemental lifts.
On their GPP hypertrophy template they suggest 4 min for anything > RPE 7. I typically just super set my warm-ups, take a bit of rest for my first set, then do 3 min until RPE 8+.
It is not in The Bridge document as I have read and searched for it numerous times.
However, I will start warmups and the totality of my rest is the time it takes to change the plates, so say a minute-ish. Before set @7 I take probably 2-3 minutes. Then 4 minutes rest before @8 or @9 sets. But is it more like 5 minutes. I have the countdown timer on my watch for 4 minutes to get up and get ready to get under the bar. Putting my belt on, wrist wraps (if necessary), getting set under the bar, etc.
thanks but i think the bridge is not really comparable to the hypertrophy template. we should probably consider the rest times from bridge2.0…
