Rower for Home Gym

I’m looking to get a rowing machine for my home gym for GPP. I know the Concept 2 is basically the gold standard, but I was hoping to something more in the $300 to $400 range. But I don’t want to get a cheap one and then end up buying the concept 2 in two years anyway.

Does anyone have any experience with this or any recommendations? Thanks!

If you’re only going to use it for LISS then you probably can get away with a cheaper model. If, however, you intend to use it for HIIT as well I would go with a C2. HIIT puts a lot of stress on the machine, and if the machine is not high quality it will break earlier than it’s worth. Black Friday is coming up, Rogue had a killer deal on C2’s last year, so maybe they’ll have another again this year?

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep a lookout for a black friday deal. I think I’m just going to go with the C2. I’ve heard it said: “Buy once, cry once.”

I dug deep and got the C2 from a local source as they’re the same price everywhere. Didn’t see any sales in Canada! The off-brand stuff was only marginally cheaper.

I’ve bought cheap on a number of things, and in the end almost always end up replacing them. i.e. I finally bought a Rogue Ohio barbell after screwing around with cheap stuff. It would have been cheaper to just buy the Rogue barbell at the start.

If you’re looking to save a bit of money but still get a quality machine, a xebex rower would be something to look at
