When I run on the treadmill (or even outdoors) for more than 5 minutes, the arch in both of my feet start to burn and hurt. However I feel as though running is the only form of LISS that I enjoy and can actually adhere to, so I would like to continue doing it.
I’ve read ‘Pain in training: What do?’ and have tried to apply the principles to my situation: I try to do at least 30 minutes of LISS each week, so I’ve split this into 4x 7 mins 30 secs LISS sessions. As I mentioned before, running for more than 5 minutes causes me pain, although I can tolerate the pain up to 7 mins 30 secs. I’ve been thinking of slowly decreasing my LISS frequency over the next few weeks, in order to increase my session times, provided that the pain remains tolerable. Is this a reasonable approach to dealing with my problem? Or are there any other recommendations you guys would make (e.g., buying new running shoes)?
Apologies for the additional post, but I would really appreciate your feedback!
Hey Insignia-.- - adjusting dosage of activity to your tolerance level makes sense. Running shoes - potentially, if it’s been a while and those shoes have accumulated a good bit of mileage on them, may be worth buying a new pair. I usually just recommend finding a pair that you find comfortable for your activity of choice.
