Shortness of breath when breathing only through nose

Hey docs, so for almost a year now, I get shortness of breath very frequently. Some details are, when I wakeup every morning I pretty much cant breath through my nose (I usually have to blow it) but its not like Sick with a cold blocked and stuffy, It literally just feels blocked, until I blow my nose (This is probably normal, but I literally cant breath at all through it and if I try to I get short of breath again and have trouble breathing for the next littlle bit). if I am ever concentrated on the computer or something and subconsciously only breath through my nose I start to get short of breath and it takes awhile for it to go away. This also happens during my workouts, inbetween sets since Im holding my breath during each rep, I find myself short of breath. Also additionally, when I wakeup in the morning my mouth is dry as hell and I always just feel like I haven’t slept idk why. (Also I have heard people tell me that I snore, but not that I completely stop breathing in my sleep). I don’t know what to make of all this, Gonna get a doctors appt asap but I’d like to hear what you think based on what is said above. I know having anxiety is possible but I really don’t get that anxious, only when I initially cant breath properly maybe that sets in. thanks

Yes, I’d recommend seeking physician evaluation for this.

To suggest just a few things - you may have undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (which can potentially lead to other consequences that cause shortness of breath), you may have allergic rhinitis or some structural issue in your nose like a deviated septum, or you may have some other reason for shortness of breath altogether (which I’d rather not hypothesize on and potentially freak you out unnecessarily). As you noted, all of this is likely compounded by anxiety.

thank you very much austin! Appreciate it.
