shoulder aint raight still

So I ate shit while snow boarding in early March and my left shoulder has been hurting ever since. I had to cut my shirt off when I got home because I could not remove it myself. The pain intensified over the next day or so then leveled off. A PT friend did a little assessment and thinks its the supraspinatus. He recommended I do some exercises which in my opinion have not helped. The pain mostly occurs with abduction and/or external rotation. It hurts to bench and press. I have been training the lifts with very light weights but the pain persists. It seems like the pain intensity got to a certain point and stopped getting better. I have benched 420 touch and go and pressed 245. I can bench 185 with minimal pain but no more. Press I can get away with 135 or so before the pain becomes a limiting factor. And finally my question, should I just keep training at these low intensities? Some days I just want to say YOLO and put weight back on the bar because this nagging shoulder shit will not go away. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

JCalvin,

Sorry to hear about the injury and I hope you’re doing well overall.

So, your PT friend thinking “it’s supraspinatus” doesn’t mean anything without describing what “it” is and why.

It is pretty clear you need imaging of the shoulder prior to anyone telling you what the best course of action is.

Thanks, I guess I’ll get an MRI.
