Shoulder Injury

Not sure where to post this. I had it in the Pain/Rehab section and no one responded so I’ve moved it here. Hope that’s ok.

Tuesday night doing dips I heard a loud grinding/ripping sound in my right shoulder area. No pain however. Almost immediately I had trouble raising my arm or doing anything with it for that matter. It got a little better that evening. Two days later the arm is a little better. ROM is pretty good with just a bit of discomfort. The discomfort will alternate between front of shoulder and down deltoid. At first I was afraid I had torn something, like my rotator cuff, but I’m thinking I may have escaped that because I am improving somewhat. I have read the Pain & Training article. I am scheduled to lift again tomorrow. Since this is an acute injury vs a chronic issue, do the same suggestions hold? Like, just finding an entry point where the pain is not too bad and going from there? I think I’ll be able to squat. Don’t know about anything else until tomorrow but won’t be OHP this week and probably never do another dip.

Yep, the recommendations from the article apply very well to this situation.

You may need to modify your squat style (for example, if it’s uncomfortable to get into a low bar position, if that’s how you prefer to squat … you may need to high bar, front squat, or use some other variation). But finding the entry point is the right move!
