Squat

I’ve noticed when I descend quickly in the squat that the weights feel lighter and I can generally squat more weight. I maintain tightness, but I almost just dive bomb down there. When this happens I do lose a little stability and get a little off balance at times as compared to when I have a more controlled eccentric. If my faster pattern of squatting is consistently repeatable and I can squat more with that approach is it preferable to a more technically sound, slower squat with lighter weights?

I can’t really tell you what you should do with your squat technique without seeing it, but I do think that going fast to maximize the stretch reflex and minimize intrarep fatigue- without losing balance- is a good idea.
