sRPE and ACWR

Hi there,

I just wondering whether the use of sRPE and A/C workload ratios for managing training load would be advisable for novice lifters? If so should I be using RPE as well? The novice program I am currently running simply involves training to 1RIR each set.

I would. I’ve heard it’s less likely a novice lifter can accumulate enough fatigue to have a significant carry over week to week…except there’s always life based fatigue, sickness and very quickly you will no longer be a novice, so managing your workouts with RPE/RIR and monitoring your fatigue is a good idea.

If nothing else it can be confirmation that, even though you are taking every set to RPE 9, you are still recovering (if the situation turns out to be fatigue has dissipated between each work out) or will tell you when it is no longer dissipating.
