Stretching for quad tendinitis

Ive been dealing with some quad tendinitis in my right knee. It started about a week ago and when i tried to continue squatting it only got worse. Im sure this was brought on by my fairly stressful week as I had my college finals for the semester and wasn’t able to get a lot of sleep or eat a lot like i normally do.

I was just wondering if stretching would be something that would be helpful on top of my plan to incorporate tempo pin squats into my program.

Thanks in advance

I would say probably not. As far as I’m aware the only thing stretching is really useful for is if you require more range of motion for a particular task. Won’t do anything magical for tendinopathy. The main thing is how you load it.

Some good reading regarding tendinopathy rehab:

No, overall stretching isn’t demonstrated as particularly helpful or necessary. I wrote about the topic here: https://www.barbellmedicine.com/mobility-explained/.

We’ve also created a template for this particular issue that can be purchased here: https://www.barbellmedicine.com/product/16-week-knee-rehab-template/.
