T bar row on the bridge.

I intend to begin the bridge soon. Would it be acceptable to replace the barbell row with a t bar row?

As long as its not one of the T bar row where you are lying on it rather than supporting yourself with your legs the movements are fairly similar. Just out of curiosity why don’t you want to do a barbell row. All you need in a barbell and some plates so equipment is not an issue. The T bar row seems similar in the way it hits the main muscles, its just not going to hit the stabilizing muscles quite as much.

honestly I’ve done heavy t bar rows in the past- I liked them a lot. I find the barbell row to be intimidating and have no experience doing them.

Why not just give them a shot? The setup is very similar to the deadlift. I think you will find they’re not that scary. Alan Thrall has a great video on how to do them here:

Alan Thrall is doing a Pendlay Row in that video. I tend to row more upright. The reason I row more upright is because a Pendlay targets the Lats a lot. All rows are going to hit the Lats, but I’d rather hit the upper back as the primary and the lats be more of a secondary contributor simply because I already do a lot of sets of vertical rows like pull up, chin ups, and lat pull downs. That said, probably the Pendlay Rows are going to assist deadlift training more than the 45 degree rows I do so I guess it depends on what your goals are.

I agree they are Pendlay rows. That’s what the bridge ebook descibes in its exercise desription as the barbell row. If you want to work other muscles, you do you. I was just curious about the reluctance to give them a shot.

I decided to give them a shot like you suggested. I kept the weight very low and focused on not rounding my back. I have to admit, I thought they felt fantastic.
