The basic principle behind body recomposition and maintaining bodyweight

Hello!

What actually is happening when someone wants to recompose and maintain bodyweight? If bodyweight is maintained in the long run, does this mean that the diet actually consists of small cutting and bulking cycles? (if it is assumed that food intake and energy consumption varies by time a little but mean bw is constant) Does this mean that muscle mass can be increased on the small bulking phases and fat mass decreased on the small cutting phases if the programming and protein intake would be good enough?

Thank You

Not sure anything happens when they want to do something, but I digress

Not really anything cyclical, just a loss of body fat and gain of muscle mass. Long term, I don’t think this works out to produce large increases in muscle mass (or decreases in body fat), but it’s possible to do nonetheless. It would not be my preferred method for fat loss or muscle gain.
