Does anyone know a freelance app developer who wants to write an Android App for the Bridge? It should have basically all the features that the Starting Strength app has, because I think that app is really pretty good. Oh, and it should be totally free with no ads. Kthanksbye!
Have been looking for an app for this as well, but haven’t found one with the right functionality like RPE, e1rm, auto calculate next workout based on previous workouts etc.
I doubt that a freelance developer would want to put in the required time into an app if it should be free and no ads though? But maybe possible.
Yeah as a software engineer I can testify that it’s a lot of work with little to gain, even if it were a generic RPE fitness app that could be marketed to all RPE is such a niche market, and there are so many permutations for how people use RPE that it really would be time consuming to write an app that could make everyone happy. I couldn’t picture ever getting a return that was worth the time invested even if it were a paid app. There are also a lot of good enough fitness apps out there, while they may not auto calculate weights off RPE for you, they still are good enough to get the job done. Also, just writing an app specifically tailored for the bridge only would definitely be easier but probably isn’t worth the time as it’s an even smaller and more niche audience. The SS app could write an app for a single program because it was paid for by Rip, who makes enough money on SS to float the development cost in order to have an app tailored to his specific clientele.
Its not an app but the Reactive Training Systems website offers a free tool that has most, if not all, of this functionality and can be used from a mobile phone.
Software engineer also chiming in here…
I’d agree that it is a lot of work that has already been done in some manner. It is all in the execution however, so don’t let me be one to squander someone’s dreams.
The iOS app “Strongur” is what i’ve used for years and it is truly great. It also uses RIR (reps in reserve, same thing as RPE really) for everything. So you can easily create The Bridge as your program in there because its setup to handle week-by-week training. Highly recommend.
Strongur seems to be available only on iOS tho.
On Android there’s pretty much no better alternative than FitNotes.
I actually found the stronglifts app to be better for SS than the SS app.
That being said, using pen and paper>app.
I think that Cleveroad could help you with the app development
