I’m completing an HLM program next week, just in time for the holidays. Being in Oz, summer and all, I’ll be away from a gym for 2-3 weeks - nothing I can do about that - and I will sure be losing some of my gains…
Is there something which can be done without barbells to reduce some of the de-training? I have some kettlebells from a pre-barbell training period.
So you can’t really barbell train without the barbell, and since strength is specific, other training is going to be less specific to your barbell goal. So yes, when you return the weight might be a bit less, but you’ll be fine and able to move up again. During the barbell-less time, you can certainly do other things and general physical training is a good thing. You should use those KBs to do goblet squats, RDLs, (single and double) DLs, presses, and keep up that general fitness.
