Training During a Fast

Each year on the new year my church congregation does a 21 day fast. During this time I usually go to 1 meal a day which coincides with what is referred to as a “Daniel Fast.” This means a temporary removal of meat, dairy, alcohol and other rich foods from my diet. Total caloric intake during this period will probably drop to ~600 to ~800 calories per day. This is something I have been doing for the last several years and enjoy it as a practice of my faith. Historically I responded well (though a bit sluggish), but have not done one of these while consistently training. My question is what should my training should look like during this 21 day period, or should I continue to train at all? I’ll reiterate that this is not the start of a crash diet and that I will resume my normal dietary practices at the end of the fast.

If it is any help I’m 6’1 216 at about 21% bf.

Thanks.

I wouldn’t really change training at all. You may feel compelled to eat more during this time, which would be great.
