Have been running SSLP for about 2 months, and things started to get really grindy for a few lifts so I decided to take a step back in intensity and increase volume as shown below.
I modified the basic SSLP not to increase every week but once a week, also changing volume to 8 reps or 4 sets in certain days, is reasonable for a late novice/early intermediate to do these changes?
My goal is to lift for strength overall but in a manageable way, I don’t want to be anxious the whole day cause I know my sets will be a grind, I don’t plan to compete and I’d also like some more development of my back muscles hence the addition of vertical and horizontal pulls.
I’d like to know if these modifications are reasonable and not too crazy, I used tonnage to estimate my target weekly volume.
Also can you give me some insights about programming deadlifts? Because most people reduce overall volume and increase intensity, which to me makes no sense since overall tonnage goes down doing so.
