So I was doing some weighted dips today and felt a sudden tearing sensation in my right anterior shoulder/lateral right pec area in the bottom of the movement. No bruising, rom, motor function and sensation are intact. Pain, subjective stiffness and some spasming in the area are all I’m experiencing. I tried to not use any nsaids but the pain was significant enough to make me nauseated. My plan is to obviously train this weekend as scheduled to tolerance and I was wondering if I should skip dips altogether. This was not a difficult set it was 6 reps at rpe 7. What kind of time line is typical for this type of injury to be back to normal training? I know this can vary based on a host of circumstances but was wondering kind of a ball park time frame. This kind of crap always seems to happen when training is going awesome haha
Could range anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how it’s managed and other factors. The “expected” timeline does not really matter, though – just manage it according to the guidelines we’ve provided for pain in training and I expect it will improve.
Thanks for the response. It’s markedly better this morning so I’m very optimistic.
