Vegan Gains (YouTuber)

Thoughts on the YouTuber, vegan gains?

Dude cites bunch of studies like y’all do. Evidence based information. Assuming his credibility is maybe 100%? He advocates the scientific method as truth based, hence he states it does not matter what other people’s practical opinions are. Goes on fighting people that aren’t all for science, but then again isn’t a full pledged scientist who has gone thru the difficulties of becoming one.

I’m not familiar with his stuff and I don’t think we can assume anyone’s credibility is 100 (that is very high…)

In any event, I’m not sure that someone without formal training in science- particularly clinical science- can have accurate insights into the literature on that topic.

That being said, I think the notion that being a vegan or vegetarian significantly compromises athletic performance is overstated, with pluses and minuses just like anything else.

I remember watching a video of his a few years back where he was explaining the benefits of veganism.

He’d cite (and show/link) a few articles regarding various topics such as bioavailability or potential health issues associated with animal products.

Regarding bio-availability, he was of the opinion that there was no difference between vegetable source proteins and animal proteins. He only backed that up with like one article and honestly I think he was only discussing nitrogen balance as a measurement for muscle building. I’m not even sure he mentioned MPS and leucine’s crucial role in that.

Anyway, it all seemed kind of “weak” in terms of argumentation. I think it’s what Jordan’s referring to - the lack of formal training in clinical science. I suppose most of the time only one study is not much evidence to support anything really.

Cheers!
