Hello doctors any advice or ideas would be appreciated. I have been dealing with Vestibular Migraines since about 2016.
Other than head neck and jaw pain from the Migraines I also have Vestibular Migraines without the headache. This entails severe anxiety, dizziness, motion sickness, vertigo, blurry vision, unable to drive during sever episodes and feeling like im going to passout. Obviously with these symptoms happening quit frequently, squats and deadlifts are not my favorite of the big 3 but I do them using a hex bar for the DL’s. Basically I just wanted to ask if you have worked with other people with this issue and if you had any tips or if you have any experience treating patients with something similar. Up to this point I have failed to treat the symptoms with anything other than emitrex which I take PRN and only provides a little relief of the actual headache but not the other symptoms. I have seem several doctors but plan on seeing a specialist soon to hopefully be cured and become a more useful person. I started lifting about 2 years ago so the lifting is not to blame, if anything it gives me some relief even with the vertigo I get during some squat sessions.
There are a number of prophylactic medications that can be taken on a regular basis to reduce the incidence of recurrent migraine. It is a bit surprising that this has not come up if you have already seen several doctors, but I imagine that will be the recommendation of the specialist (assuming they agree with the initial diagnosis).
Thanks Austin unfortunately it took more than a year to even get a diagnosis. The rest of that time was spent ruling out anything more severe, visiting two different ENT’s, being misdiagnosed with BPPV etc. I should also mention I tried Topamax and Verapamil they didn’t help and the Topamax gave me crazy side effects. Honestly I was kind of tired of going to the doctor with no relief and should have visited a specialist earlier.
