Warming up for next lift between sets.

At my prior gym it was protocol to warm up for the next lift while completing top sets. For example, between sets of squats I would start my bench warm-up. Beyond the annoyance of not being able to veg out between sets, it didn’t seem to have a negative impact on my lifts. Is this an acceptable practice or is there some drawback to doing warmups this way?

I do this all the time. It’s fine.
