What's the deal with phosphatidic acid?

I’ve been hearing about this supplement called phosphatidic acid derived from soy (ironically) that is supposed to really activate the mTOR pathway, which supposedly controls protein synthesis. But it has to be in high doses, 750mg ish a day.

The one real study done on it I could find was done in 2013 by the University of Tampa. Their results on a particular blend called Mediator, from HPN, showed twice the fat lost, and twice the muscle gained, in 8 weeks versus the placebo group, depending on caloric intake of the two different test groups. They were doing the same workout programming.

Now, obviously this sounds a little too good to be true, so I’d be interested to hear Dr. Feigenbaum’s thoughts on this stuff. I obviously WANT it to be true, but I’m skeptical of any supplement that makes these claims.

Doesn’t really have any evidence that it does anything in isolation, similar to HMB. Would not recommend.
