Where to start?

Hello,

After jumping programs a lot in the past (5/3/1, P.H.A.T, Full body training, 5x5 to name a few) After high recommendations from a guy in my gym I want to try Barbell Medicine programming. I’ve never tried RPE before so although I understand the concept, its new training style to me.

I’ve been weight training consistently for around 5 years now and want to focus on strength more than I have in the past for a while. I’m thinking of cycling the strength and hypertrophy programs after running the bridge. Is this a good place to start?

I have the bridge 1.0 and 3.0, should I start with one over the other? Should I run them both?

Looking through the program I have all the equipment needed for 1.0 but would have to make some alternative exercises for 3.0

Would definitely start with bridge 1.0–you’ve got the equipment for it, it’s slightly shorter (7 weeks) and your goal is to acclimate to RPE.

After that, it would depend on your goals. If you’ve been making progress for 5 years you probably need a good amount of volume, but you won’t know until after you give the bridge 1.0 a try.

Thanks, although I’ve been training that long consistently, I don’t think my rep maxes and ERM1 really reflect that. I think if anything I’ve been guilty of overtraining and including a lot of fluff in my training.

Going into the program my lifts are
Squat - E1RM 180kg but I’ve never gone near this weight
Bench - 1RM 120kg
Deadlift - E1RM 230kg
OHP - 1RM 80kg

Ultimately my goal at the moment are to be stronger, but I would like to maintain my current muscle size too.

With getting enough volume, is this addressed by using her 4 day templates?

Edit: My current bodyweight is 100kg

It’s hard to tell how much volume someone needs based on 1RMs as one person really varies from the next, but if those maxes are up to date and they don’t change over the course of the bridge then I’d go with a 4 day program to start.
