is Whey Rx also Informed Protein certified? There seems to be a difference between Informed Protein and Informed Sport certifications in that the former primarily tests for protein spiking and amounts while the latter is primarily for banned substances—at least per their website. FAQ | Informed Protein
The only brand I can find that has a good amount of flavors and both certifications is Transparent Labs (Informed Choice and Informed Protein). Any chance for Whey Rx to adopt more flavors?
We used Informed Sport and declined their protein certification, as the protein spiking “testing” is limited IMO. Also, protein spiking is identifiable on the label by looking at the ingredients, usually looking for glycine, glutamine, or similar. Instead, we actually added some additional BCAAs to our WheyRx to make sure folks who needed a bigger dose of protein per scoop were covered.
The other company you mentioned sells some pretty interesting products that would give me pause about supporting them. I also have some concerns about a 28g pro/serving and the price point. That said, I realize protein supplementation is low risk and maybe this maybe doesn’t matter at all.
Interesting. I’d think it be good to have additional certification anyway. Thanks, that’s very insightful!
I agree on the other products they sell. They also sell Creatine HMB (lol) and Greens ( double lol). But tbh, the additional flavors draw me. I can only eat chocolate or vanilla protein oats so many times, haha.
Thanks for putting out one of the best whey proteins right now! It’s very hard to find isolates without thickeners (sometimes gives me GI distress) that are truly third-party tested.
I wish you sold Creatine standalone! I found some that are Informed Sport certified. Would that be safe in your book? Raw Nutrition/Bumstead’s company.
Yea I would like to roll out a standalone creatine and a few other products. Not familiar enough with that brand of creatine, but I would be looking at Creapure if I had to buy some creatine on its own.
Hmm… Ascent Nutrition seems to have Creapure Creatine that is Informed Sport certified. Creatine | Ascent Protein
But awesome, do let us know if you ever roll out standalone creatine! Will buy that day one! And hopefully a vanilla rx flavor without thickeners if possible. I noticed the chocolate flavor doesn’t have it but vanilla does.
Thanks! I noticed Peri Rx doesn’t include “Creapure” as you recommended just now but just regular Creatine Monohydrate. Is that just marketing tomfoolery on Creapure’s part/is there even a difference?
Our creatine mono is Creapure, but we do not label it as such. I talk about this a bit in our podcast on creatine and yes, there can be a difference in creatine products. The most commonly used type of creatine in the research is Creapure.
