Maybe this has a obvious answer but I’m still confused.
who’s more powerful?
person 1: 6’0 200lbs 35 inch vertical jump who hasn’t picked up a weight.
or
person 2: 6’0 200lbs 15 inch vertical jump but can power clean 315.
I figure the guy with a higher vertical is technically more powerful but I don’t know. Thanks lol.
How are you measuring power? That’s necessary to give you and answer. Both are displays of rapid force production, just in different contexts…
I guess it’s still the inner mark rippetoe in me suggesting that the vertical jump is still king when it comes to true power. So maybe I still need to be educated in the difference between power from a clean vs vertical jump lol.
One involves an external resistance that moves slightly slower and requires much more training to demonstrate (the clean) and the other is a more accurate, more precise measure of power in most circles. No one cares how much you can clean in sport outside of barbell sports.
