I have yogurt several times a week (favorite: Oikos Triple Zero). Just today a friend sent me an article about yogurt benefits for gut health, but then he went on about making your own yogurt to improve cfu’s (that I had to look up because I didn’t know the term until this morning). Is this a worthwhile concern, silly BS, or worrying too much about the edges of health? Thanks.
I don’t think there are significant benefits to making your own yogurt over commercially-available yogurt. You may or may not like making it though.
Yea, that’d be a tough argument to make.
I don’t have any perspective on health benefits of making your own yogurt, but it is quite fun to do, you stop tossing away all those plastic containers, and if you strain the yogurt after making it, you get a very useful byproduct (liquid whey). The liquid whey can be used to amp up overnight oats, pancakes, or pretty much any other baking recipe requiring water. It’s easy to make with an instantpot, and there are cloth strainers available online to get the thickness of greek yogurt.
