The last couple of months I’ve been following BBM style training in the way I have been ordering/structuring my workouts. The only difference (and it’s a fundamental one, I know), is how I am using loading schemes and volume.
I log all of my training and keep track of numbers and volume but the way I have been structuring my training is to try and add a rep here or there and over time this leads to an increase in accumulated volume.
I normally try and achieve this intra-set, e.g. if I did 8 reps with 255 on bench last week, I will aim for 9 this week. Alternatively, I’ll add an extra set. I do this until I can hit a particular weight for an arbitrary number of reps , e.g. 4 sets of 10. Once I have achieved that, I will add weight to the bar and do the same thing.
I rotate “accessory/supplemental lifts” every 8 weeks or so.
