Abdominal pain during ab wheel

Hello,

I was planning to do some ab wheel rollouts for GPP this evening, however, on the first one, I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen about an inch or two under my navel. I would rate it a 6 out of 10 on a pain scale. It was not debilitating, but it was quite uncomfortable.

The sharp pain continued to flare up with each consecutive rep, so I stopped the exercise. I switched to leg raises instead, but the pain persisted with each rep. It does not hurt when at rest.

It’s only my second time doing ab wheel rollouts, and in hindsight, I should have eased into them instead of going for it.

I guess I’m wondering now how to make sense of things. I don’t really know if I gave myself a hernia, or if I just tweaked some part of my abdomen, or what exactly.

I would so appreciate any advice you could give on making sense of things/management for this. I plan on training tomorrow like nothing happened, but I realize things might need to change after this.

Thanks so much for your time,
Tim

Tfranc,

Is there a reason you feel the need to do an ab roll out instead of general planks, tuck holds, L sits, v sits?

Or I would suggest starting with a shorter range of motion and work your way up to a full ab roll out. Just my suggestion im not a doctor though.
