Recently discovered a love for rugby, and today I found a local club. They have practices on Tuesdays, Tuesday is a higher rep strict press/ bench/ and chest and arm accessories day for me. Would you expect any issues with me lifting and then about 4 hours later going to rugby practice ? In my mind it wouldn’t be an issue because I imagine rugby will be the most taxing on my legs , and I don’t deadlift and squat again until Thursday ( Wednesday being a rest day).
We wouldn’t expect anything deleterious to happen and this is the point of use autoregulated training. You’ll just adjust the load as needed depending on performance potential for the day
Awesome thanks doc ! And yeah I assumed I’d probably have to pay careful attention to my load management , id just like to be able to find that fine line between being a better athlete and still making gains.
