Adjusting Deadlift Rep Scheme re: Hex Plates

I try to schedule my deadlift sessions on days where I have access to proper round plates. On some days, due to missed workouts and such, my lifting schedule gets moved around, so I need to do my deadlift workout on a day when I only have access to the dreaded hexagonal plates. I am wondering if EMOM@8.5-9 can be substituted. am doing 1x5 @9 with 4-5 drop sets (-8%) at the moment for deadlifts. Last time I used hex plates I did 10 x EMOM@9ish. Let me know if you have better ideas.

Switching from multiple sets of 5 to doing EMOMs @ 9 is a pretty significant change in stimulus. I can’t say how well such a thing might work.

You could also just pull your sets with full resets between reps.

I will try the full resets with mixed grip. I’ve been using straps - the bent over shuffle of the feet just doesn’t work.

Yep, that makes sense.

Look up a product called Hex Bumpers as well. I bought a set back when they were on Kickstarter and they work great and you no longer have to worry about the hex weights. The other nice thing about them is the add about 5 lbs to the lift and set the weights slightly higher so putting on additional weights are a breeze.
