I have a sligth pain at my left ankle, outer side, right around that bony bulge on our ankles. It hurts every 10 to 15 seconds like as if a wave of pain travels down my calf, I suspect it might have to do something with me exhaling or inhaling. I started feeling this last week but I didn’t stop training because it wasn’t bothering me much on a daily basis or during my training sessions. I added 10 pounds to my squat this week (SS NLP) despite this ankle issue but I figured I’d ask you anyway, is there anything that I should do right now to treat it, fix it or further diagnose this; or should I just keep on training and see if goes away on its own?
Hi Gorkem, sorry to hear about your pain. You said that this is a rather new pain so if I may ask, have there been any recent increases in stress either in or out of training that you know of?? Also I find it very encouraging that you are not feeling the pain while training and because of that it seems like a good idea to keep training.
Hi Nick. No, not really. I was running the SS NLP when it happened and I’m still running SS NLP. The first time I felt something weird with my ankle was when I was walking on the street. It growed to be a pain but still not a very disturbing amount of pain.
3 months but I was basically fooling myself the first month, and got injured the next one. I’m squatting 85 kilos right now at the body weight of 80 kilos. Last sessions felt nothing extraordinary. Last set was mentally and physically challenging, took a few seconds of grind to complete the last rep, but nothing extreme.
Ok I only ask because some people stay on LP for a rather long time when it is no longer an appropriate program. Have you ever thought of giving the bridge a try? One of the biggest problems with LP is that it is a forced linear progression and does not take into account the lifters rating of how hard a session was, like RPE does.
