So about a month back I was squatting, racked the weight and felt like something tightening up on my ASIS( bony nob of pelvis) felt like to was right under the bone. Proceeded anyways and the next day and weeks following… the pain was killing me. Lifting my knee to chest and rotating either to the left or right I would feel it pinch, laying on the floor if I fully extend both legs into straight legs and lift it off the floor I would instantly feel it start spasing and cramping. A couple PTs I asked said it sounds like an iliacus strain but I never had it checked out. The pain is very seldom now… only feel it upon waking up and I’m sure thats because u sleep on my side alot or stretching it. I feel/felt this pain in both sides of the pelvis. A couple things I did was some slight stretches of the area and adjust my feet from narrow to pointed out and my stance from a bit wide to quite narrow. Aswell since the sartorious muscle is connected to the asis i stretched the hell out of the sartorious and i think this helped alot too. As I said most of my pain is gone now… but has anyone heard or had this issue before? THIS IS NOT HIP PAIN. Just getting any information I can to make sure this doesn’t happen again . I was about a day or two away from deloading alot and or stop squating in general… luckily the pain eased up and I stopped feeling it when I squat … As I said now I really only feel it upon waking.
We can’t tell you what exactly caused this, unfortunately. It may have been a technique-related issue where certain tissues or tendons got irritated, for example in the case of “knee slide” in the bottom of the squat. Or it may have just been a fluke pain that eventually went away.
