Belt Width

Hi guys, just looking for some clarification.

Looking to buy a quality lifting belt (looking to go with Best Belts). Problem is I’ve seen conflicting advice regarding width. Looked around on the forum and have seen Leah say that most people do well with a 4" 10mm belt, regardless of your torso length and space between your hip and rib cage. Normally I’d follow that and just buy the belt. Only I’ve had a SS session with Carl Raghavan and after feeling the gap between my hip bone and lower rib he thought a 2.5" would suit me better. Was a (h)while ago now so might have even been a 2" (if they exist). To me the 2/2.5" did seem more comfortable. But does that seem unlikely to be the case? Or am I really a special snowflake? Does it matter much if the belt overlaps my hips and ribs a tad?

I’ve been using this belt https://www.google.com/search?q=lift…cJhYWJlej9g_RM that is just in the belt bin at my gym. Front fits snug in between my hipbone and ribs whereas the back is much wider. Is this belt fine for me to use for now or should I just get a 4" 10mm?

Thanks very much

Yea we would disagree with Carl and the SS crew on this and recommend a 4" 10mm or 13mm belt.

Short person here (5’7"/approx 170cm). I’ve had a Best Belts 4 inch, 10mm single prong belt for 3 years now. Initially, it took a little getting used to. So out of curiosity, I bought a Pioneer 3 inch belt to see if that worked better. Turns out, it did not. No knock against Pioneer. They make an excellent belt. I’m very happy with my 4 inch belt.
