Buying a belt for a 5'4 male?

Hi, I’m a short male who’s looking to buy a belt.

Should I get a 3’’ belt as Jordan recommends in his article Articles | Barbell Medicine

He states that a 2.5’’ belt is “great off the shelf 2.5″ belt for shorter trainees (Under 5’5″) and lifters who arch a lot in the bench press (as it’s more flexible).”

What shall I do? Buy a 4’’ belt or a 3’’ belt? It seems to be hard to find a 2.5’’ belt these days.

I also remember Leah replying to a post about the belt, saying that she wears a 4’’ belt in spite of being 5’4.

Thank you in advance for clarifying!

Yep, I am 5’4", have a short torso and love my 4 inch belt. It touches my hips and my ribs and I’m just fine once I got used to it. A 10mm 4in belt is easier to wear than a 13mm 4 inch belt too. (Although I wear the 13mm, 4 in.)

I would NOT suggest one buy a 2.5 unless you know that nothing else will work for you. If it’s your first belt, if you’re a relatively new lifter, and you’re concerned about it, go with the 3 in belt. It will be a great belt.
