I have been lifting for a number of years but recently stumbled onto Starting Strength and wanted to start from a novice standpoint and go thru the process. I experience pain in both right and left biceps (entire muscle) and brachioradialis as well as some tenderness in the brachioradialis and triceps when lifting heavy on bench,and press, and have for a few years. Once it’s been aggravated i lose strength, rest helps but it comes back once weight is increased. I have given it a full two weeks of absolute rest which helped but now it’s back. In your opinion what could this possibly be (I’m 36 6’1” weigh 236 160 3x5 on press, 230 3x5 on bench, 370 3x5 squat, 360 1x5 on deadlift) been on the novice progression for 4 weeks.
This is often a result of something that gets initially irritated/sensitized by your squat setup, and then it tends to affect the bench and press immediately after squatting. There are a number of threads on here related to arm / elbow pain from the squat, I’d try putting those tips into practice.
