Bodybuilding Cardio

Given that swimming is often considered a high-skill activity, especially for those who didn’t grow up swimming competitively, would it still be a worthwhile form of GPP if I can’t swim for 15-25 minutes straight? Or would it be better to focus on lower-skill options like biking or rowing to ensure consistent, productive cardio sessions?

I am looking to just get the cardio in, and am not attached to a specific type.

JMW,

I agree with you that swimming is a high-skill conditioning activity. Additionally, the upper body endurance is generally poorly developed in those without a swimming background. Because folks can’t really slow down and still swim (especially if unfamiliar with the activity), it can be challenging to pace oneself in a way that allows prolonged bouts of conditioning. Add it all up, and you can see why swimming isn’t my go-to for those without a swimming background, who don’t necessarily care how good at swimming they are, and who are interested in lifting performance.

I think cycling, rowing, erging, brisk walking/jogging, etc. are all fine choices for conditioning.
