Bran Cereal for Fiber

In the Fiber Podcast, you made a distinction between fiber from foods and fiber from supplements, such as psyllium husk. Which category would you put bran cereal in?

Say I get 18g of fiber from one daily serving of bran cereal each morning and get the rest of my fiber from other foods, up to the 25g-35g recommended amount. Would this count as following your fiber recommendation or is it cheating?

Thanks,

I’d put it in the whole grain food category. Yes, it would count.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to check because it seemed too good to be true that I could get more than half my daily fiber from less than 1 cup of cereal. Wasn’t sure if there were any shenanigans going on(even though the ingredients on the box just say “wheat bran”).
