I have been curious about experimenting with doing a top 1-2 sets of comp lift, followed by back off sets using supp lifts for each lift slot. This would increase frequency of exposure to the comp lift and better practice when fresh. Example might be comp bench + tempo bench one day, comp bench + board bench another, and comp bench + 3ct pause a 3rd day. have you or any clients done this and if so, what experience did you/they have? significant downsides to not having a day with many sets of the comp lift? thanks!
While it doesn’t really look like frequency matters that much outside of influencing volume, you’re welcome to try.
I have had people bench and/or squat everyday, which increased their volume and some have had good results. Others have done worse.
