Apologies if this has been asked before. I did a quick search on here but could not find a similar question.
Firstly, thank you all for the great content and training templates provided. Really enjoying it. I had recently purchased the Beginner Template and completed Block 1. I was 1 week through Block 2, when I contracted Covid. This puts me out for 10-14 days due to isolation/recovery.
Additionally, I was reading that even after you recover from Covid, that you should start with a light 15 min workout and gradually increase the duration and intensity for a period of 2 weeks. Safe Return to Physical Activity After COVID-19.
This means that realistically, it will be ~ 4 weeks from my last workout until I can return back to something resembling the Beginner Template again.
Given that I was only 1 week into Block 2, and now have ~4 weeks away from barbell training, when I return should I just repeat Block 1 again and restart the template from the beginning?
We would not agree that all individuals should return return to exercise after COVID-19 with a 15-minute light effort. We would also not agree with the recommendations for EKGs, rest during infection, etc.
I would restart Block I. Here are some additional recommendations:
Thanks for those recommendations. I’ve got a couple of follow up questions, based on that article:
Would the sample program specified in that article change if someone was returning from a period of not training due to COVID infection itself? I guess I am wondering if there is any risks re: long COVID by returning too quickly to exercise. Although I understand that “too quickly” will vary from individual to individual.
Would you recommend running the 3-week sample
program in the article above and then going into the Beginner Template?
