Conversation with my Doctor

I have had chronic pain on the exterior side of my left knee for over 4 years now. I have payed close attention to look for triggers and can never find anything consistent. I have brought my concern up to multiple doctors over the years and I have been told “You are big loose weight”. I have gotten x-rays done and they all show up normal. After x-rays the conversations end and I get told to "hit the gym"The issue is that the more weight I loose the more painful it becomes. I have roughly lost about 100lbs with a lot more to go. Most of the time I can temporarily remedy it during a workout with wrapping it. On days like today no matter how hard I wrap my knees I have a lot of pain.

Is there any data that I can gather or things that I can research to have a more productive conversation with my primary care physician. From googling knee anatomy my pain is right at the middle of my LCL. I have no injury that I can recall that would have cause the issue initially. I just want to be able to consistently squat so I can make some gainzzzz.

I think a consultation with our rehab clinicians would be far more productive than anything you are likely to get from your physician, from the sound of it.

Hi Austin,

Thanks very much for the reply. How can I get more information about this? I looked through the Barbell Medicine website, but couldn’t find anything.
