Duffalo Bar for LBBS replacement

Preface: Shoulder issues mean I can’t low bar (my preferred squat) for longer than X days before guaranteed shoulder aids.

I do High bar as my main movement. I already have the SSB and use that as a supplemental movement. Lately I heard about the Dufallo bar and that it helps those with shoulder flexibility on the LBBS while keeping the movement exactly the same. Some people claim that you can train with this bar as a straight replacement for the LBBS.

Do you have any actual experience with it? Is it true that it really is exactly like LBBS? Could I train on the duffalo bar and stay primed to do a single high intensity session on a power bar (like a mock meet) ? It sounds too good to be true, but if it is, I am willing to pay the exorbitant cost of the bar.

I would not say it is exactly like a low bar squat, but it can certainly make it easier to grip the bar for those with shoulder issues. I’d recommend seeing if you can try one before paying for one.

Additionally, I’d also be curious whether there are any setup issues that overload the shoulder unnecessarily, and contribute to your discomfort in a similar way we see lots of elbow pain with the low bar squat.

If you find the problem cannot be addressed by proper setup or technique modification I would look at Titan Fitness or New York barbell/TDS. Much, much less expensive than the Duffalo bar. I have used both like the TDS a little bit better but Titan Bison Bar is about a hundred dollars right now or at least last week in my experience I agree with Dr… Baraki in that it’s not exact but it’s a close approximation.

Thank you for the suggestions. While I do think the Duffalo Bar is a rip off and the bars you recommended are steals, I’m not sure if there might be a reason for that. The titan is rated to 500LB. I don’t squat that yet (high bar is upper 300’s) but it’s plausible in the future that I might put 500 on the bar at sometime. Especially if it correlates to LBBS and not HBBS, which would add 30+LB alone.

I’ve also heard that the Dufallo bar’s shape is better than the other alternatives including the original buffalo bars. Maybe this is just brainwashing and marketing? I don’t know but would love to hear peoples experiences.
