Fluoride

I have only been drinking bottled spring water for the past year and have ditched fluoridated toothpaste as well.

That being said, it occurred to me that I did not know of any benefits fluoride might have on the human body other than cavity protection for teeth.

Does fluoride have any other necessary functions in the body that I’m unaware of? Is it necessary for the human body? Are there any potential negative outcomes from eliminating fluoride besides lessened cavity protection?

It has a role in bone health, but the dental benefits are the most well-understood.

If you do not drink any ground water and do not use any other fluoridated products, you may be increasing your risk of dental issues. I would not be concerned about other health consequences.

How do you feel now? Is there any sense in not drinking tap water and using fluoride-free toothpaste? I’ve heard about it before, but it would be cool to know whether it really works.
