Flywheel training

Is there any research/info on these devices? I saw a few popular powerlifters use them, seems interesting. I even saw a platform with a flywheel being used as a form of belt squat. Do they work as well/better/worse than a pulley system with weights?

Yes, there’s research on them- but not with respect to powerlifting performance or similar. I think they can be useful as a training tool, but like most other exercise variations, it’s not a game changer.
