"Good" Waist Size for Tall Guy

Hi Jordan,

I’ve read a few posts by other dudes who are tall and asking about waist size, so I want to as well. I am 6’7" with a 37.5" waist. I got up to a 43" waist on SSLP (oops), but then dieted down to about a 39" waist and stayed there for many months. I assumed this was okay since I was under the 40" limit. But now it seems from what I’ve read on your site and forums that you really encourage more like 34-35" as an ideal.

Thus, I’ve been following your “To Be A Beast” macros for fat loss and gone down from 39" to 37.5" in about 4 weeks, losing about 5 pounds. My plan was to get to about 36" but maybe I should shoot for more? What would you recommend? I’d be perfectly happy getting down lower if it would benefit my future training goals and health. I’m not too worried about temporary reductions in strength, and I’m trying to keep my volume high. The Navy calculator says I’m 20% body fat, but I also heard it’s less reliable for really tall people.

Thanks so much.

Arete,

I would probably cap my waist circumference at 35-36" in this case. Enjoy the height my man, LOL.
