Tall and skinny

Hey Jordan,

I’ve always been tall and skinny. In high school my nickname was twig. I graduated college at 6’1” 135#. There’s some psychology involved there but won’t dive into it unless you want.

Anyway, a few years back I became heavily invested in the thought that an adult male weighs 200#, and I got there and then some (215# max), albeit at 25% plus body fat. Recently, and thanks to BBM, I realize that can be harmful and lead to increased risk of health problems.

Now I’m considering waist measurement. Currently 190# and 39.5”. I’m concerned that to get to the 33-34” range I’m going to be 165#. Hesitantly, I’m ok with that, but feel maybe the pendulum is swinging too far the other direction.

So, would you advise cutting to a 33-34” waist, even if it means getting down into the 165-170# range, then intelligently bulking and cutting to stay in the 33-37” waist?

Thanks for the great content and getting me moving in the right direction!

I think if your skeleton and current levels of muscle mass result in you having a 34" waist at 160lbs, then that’s just fine. Muscle mass takes a long time to acquire!

Thanks Jordan. I assume you meant “your skeleton” as opposed to “you are a skeleton”, the latter being a bit of a blow to my already fragile psyche on the subject lol.

So I’ll keep eating a deficit down to 33-34", whatever body weight that ends up being, hang out there for a bit, then start building back up with a slight calorie surplus and sufficient protein. Would you recommend gomad at this point? Ha! Just kidding.

Haha yea, good catch and sorry about the typo. Fortunately for everyone around you, you don’t have to do GOMAD lol.
