Group programming

I would like to hear some feed back on the group programming through bbm. I wanted to know if it was a good investment.

Are people told not to share their experiences with group programming or something? You would think there would be at least some people willing to share their experiences.

I did the Powerbuilding Group Programming for 3 months (May-July). It was a good experience. You get regular form checks on all your lifts from the BBM coaches which was the main reason I signed up. The programming was well done too and all my lifts progressed. The programming blocks are generic to whole group, but the coaches can help you modify it if you have any special considerations (injury, meet coming up, etc). The coaches are really responsive and answers any questions you have. They collect data from everyone every month too and use it to update their programming based on the average response for future generations. The Facebook group is pretty active too, if you like having a community it’s a nice experience.

I ultimately ended it because the form checks lost their use for me after 3 months and I wanted to experiment with some other programming. I’d consider it again in the future but I might just go for the 1on1 this time around.

There are previous threads here on group programming…no one is hiding and there are also posts in the FB group about results.

Facebook is horrible, I can’t believe people still use it. To each their own.

llaffin, yup me too. F.B. stinks but that is how I keep up with BBM

Ridiculous FB in this day and age. Might as well move it to discord.

I asked a number of months ago why BBM forums weren’t the main point of focus for the BBM community (https://forum.barbellmedicine.com/fo…ms-vs-facebook).

Basically it is easier for BBM and Facebook attracks members esier than a forum (such as this one). I get it, but I don’t like it. Particularly if one was paying for group programming.

I hardly use Facebook anymore. Instagram usage has also dropped like a rock. Insta Lives? I used to watch them as often as possible, but being so user unfriendly I stopped. Get a phone call mid way through? Gotta start from the start and find where you were. Terrible for long form stuff. Try watching an Insta Live with a toddler (or any kid for that matter) or with a wife (or significant other) in the house. Yeah, nah. I just wait for the YouTube video and that is what I watch now. I can start, stop, return to where I left off, and watch the thing on my iPad while cooking (sooo much YouTube watched while cooking). I can also watch at up to 2x speed.

It is a shame as I don’t believe the ease of use of Facebook is worth it. I don’t know the stats of usage of the BBM page, but I feel it probably has not panned out the same as Jordan may have thought. Note, this is pure conjecture though, but somewhat based on general Facebook metrics and social media metrics.

Our local car racing club has a forum, Instagram, and Facebook accounts. In general, the forum is for ‘old’ people while Instagram and Facebook are for ‘young’ people. Both view the other with slight contempt (too long, too short). Times and attention spans are changing.

Maybe start a Usenet group for the really old people?
