GS&C 2 on a cut

Hi BBM Team,

I’m currently running GS&C2 gen2 4 day non-comp whilst eating around maintenance, and progressing well.

I train BJJ 1-2 times per week (90 mins each) but want to up it to 3 times per week, so thinking it would make sense to switch to the 3 day version of GS&C.

I also want to start cutting, as my waist is around 36inches (6 foot, 90kg, 35yo).

Do you think the volume is sufficient on this program for me to maintain muscle whilst cutting until my waist gets to around 30-31 inches (presumably around 80kg bw)? Or would another program be better suited.

I think most people would be surprised at how little exercise is really needed to maintain the majority of muscle during a cut. Your training load isn’t really going down because you’re adding more BJJ. I do have some concerns that’s going to be too much training given that you’re staring down the barrel of a 10kg weight cut. That said, if you’re doing well on the current program and are training BJJ 2x/wk, you will probably do fine on the 3-day. If you start getting sore for a long time and feeling run down, I’d swap to the 2-day version.
