Hello. After looking at some of the BBM programs, videos, articles, I see that you guys like adding a single @8 in a lot of your programs, because it gives you skill practice for 1rms. But for people who are not powerlifting, are heavy singles necessary? Do they contribute to strength improvement, like 4s, 5s, 6s? Thanks for your time
It can be useful to practice displaying strength, as it can transfer over to other high intensity efforts like a 3 or 5RM. Additionally, sometimes the 1 @ 8 is a barometer of performance on a given day that can be used to manage training load that day.
