I have been seeing a lot of individuals posting about strength gains being fairly predictable on a linear level. It takes y length of time to gain z amount of strength the therefore it takes 2y to gain that same amount of z strength moving forward. I am having a hard time recomciliating this with a lot of the studies being discussed talking about increased volume means significant strength gains when compared to lower volume types. So does the volume piece only work on a short term basis but long term it doesn’t make that much difference as far as how long it will take you to make a certain amount of gains, or does it shorten that linear time frame a bit?
Strength improvements aren’t linear in any sense of the word. There does appear to be a dose-response relationship with training performed in a viable intensity range for improving strength.
