Hypertrophy 1 and high bar squats

Hello Docs,

What is the reasoning behind programming high bar for the first 5 weeks of hypertrophy 1?

I was wondering if it might be reasonable to substitute front squats for high bar if my intention is to focus more on olympic lifts after this program is complete?

I would assume that front squats would achieve a similar effect as high bar, if not better, if the intention is to hit the quads/glutes more than low bar.

then again I’m not a doctor, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.

If you’d like to do front squats in place of high bar squats, that’s fine- though my concern would be maintenance of the rack position for that many reps.

It doesn’t matter what kind of squats you do though outside of specific strength concerns and individual preferences.

Thank you sir! The rack position is definitely a tedious thing for me - for now I’m doing 4 with a front rack and switching to California style for the rest of the set. Hoping to steadily increase how many i can get in a front rack position. Thanks again!
